About the spca barn

SPCA Barn

The SPCA for Monterey County is unique in that we take in all animals who need us, including barn animals. At any given time, we will have horses, goats, pigs, fowl, and more available for adoption.

More interesting information about your SPCA Barn:

  • The SPCA barn has five indoor/outdoor stalls, four isolation stalls, eight covered paddocks, and many acres of pasture. We also have a 50' round pen to train our rescued horses.
  • Two local trainers donate their time to help train horses rescued by the SPCA.
  • The SPCA was the very first in the nation to partner with the American Red Cross to shelter pets during a disaster. During the Summer wildfires in 2008 we rescued over 500 animals including many goats, llamas, horses, pigs, and more.
