With a talented team of eleven doctors, including six veterinary specialists, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Michael Lesser to the Pet Specialists of Monterey (PSM) family. As a board certified cardiologist, Dr. Lesser’s expertise includes widespread techniques such as echocardiography, electrocardiography, Holter and event monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring. With the addition of Dr. Lesser to our team of doctors, we are able to continue to provide extraordinary, well-rounded specialty services and emergency medicine to the community of Monterey and beyond.
The 22nd Annual Wag n’ Walk is taking place on May 6th at Custom House Plaza – Monterey State Historic Park in Monterey! This event benefits your SPCA for Monterey County, helping us care for more than 5,500 homeless animals every year. The SPCA has been hosting this wonderful event for decades, and we have many people (and dogs!) who have been Waggin’ n’ Walkin’ with us for many years.

This fun event is a 2.4 mile walk benefiting The SPCA for Monterey County, the heart of animal rescue since 1905. This special fundraiser helps your SPCA for Monterey County care for more than 5,500 homeless animals each year.

Last week, The SPCA for Monterey County received a call about puppies trapped under a portable classroom at Gavilan View Middle School in Salinas. Teachers and students at the school heard crying under the classroom for at least two days, starting when the students returned on Tuesday from a school vacation. A custodian and a teacher managed to dig and reach under the building and pull the puppies to safety while the school secretary kept the rescued puppies warm. SPCA humane officers rushed the tiny puppies back to the shelter for immediate veterinary care.
