How to Adopt

  • HOW TO ADOPT A PET

Thank you for opening your heart to a pet rescued by your local, independent SPCA Monterey County!

Cats, Kittens, Dogs, Puppies, and Small Pets
Our Adoption Center is open daily from 11 am to 5 pm. To adopt a dog, cat, puppy, kitten or a small pet like a rabbit, hamster, or guinea pig, we strongly encourage you to visit our pets online first and make an appointment to meet them. Our Adoption Holds ensure the pet will be waiting to meet you when you arrive. Our shelter is open to meet a pet without an Adoption Hold, however you may need to wait for an adoption time to become available.

To continue to keep our community safe, we may limit the number of people in our Adoption Center at one time. Masks are required. Due to this limited capacity, at this time we are asking that you visit only if you are interested in adopting. Thank you for your understanding.
