Board of Directors
Meet the members of the SPCA Monterey County Board of Directors.
Adriana Hayward, Psy.D, Board Chair: Clinical health psychologist; currently serving as board chair during her second term on the SPCA Board; board member with the Monterey Museum of Art, Santa Catalina School and Lyles Diversified’s Family Council. The Hayward Family has been supportive of the SPCA for 100 years! Hayward Lumber donated material for our very first shelter in the 1920s, while the Nancy Eccles and Homer M. Hayward Family Foundation supported a major campus renovation 20 years ago and other impactful projects since that time including our Wildlife Center’s flight aviary, completed in June 2026.
Anthea Stratigos, Vice-Chair: Co-founder and CEO, Outsell, Inc; author; SPCA board vice chair. Anthea believes the SPCA is truly special because its incredible breadth and depth of service—unparalleled anywhere in the U.S.—allows its mission to touch the lives of countless animals and people across the community.
Anne Fitzpatrick, Ed.D, Secretary: Retired Principal Psychometrician, Educational Testing Service; SPCA board secretary. A long-time Monterey County resident, Anne also serves as Board Treasurer with Chamber Music Monterey Bay.
C. Lee Cox, Treasurer: Retired president and CEO, AirTouch Cellular; retired director and interim CEO, PG&E; Board of Directors of Community Foundation for Monterey County, Pacific Repertory Theatre and Nancy Buck Ransom Foundation; abstract artist; current SPCA board treasurer. Lee joined the board when a friend recruited him 20 years ago, but has remained active because of the ability to make a meaningful impact with a modest time commitment. His special ability to analyze and communicate are among the reasons SPCA board members cover their meeting agenda in less than an hour!
Christine Chin: Realtor, Carmel Realty; member of the Casa Abrego Club. Christine has lived in this community for many years and has marveled at the SPCA’s work. As a board member, she’s seen the organization through a new lens and loves that we are constantly finding new ways to ensure every animal gets the best care.
Debra Couch: Owner, Debra C at the Crossroads in Carmel. Debra first joined the SPCA’s board in 2019, then couldn’t wait to begin a second term in 2026 after her mandatory year off. She and her husband have adopted a number of dogs from the SPCA and they’ve supported multiple, local animal welfare groups for years.
Hayley Ditzler: Retired; former high tech CEO for twelve years; grief counselor for eight years; extensive philanthropic work including board service with Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund and Pinewood School. Relatively new to the Monterey Peninsula, Hayley had a standout experience when she toured the SPCA and met our education ambassador: a Red-tail hawk.
Tom Donnelly: Financial advisor, Morgan Stanley; currently serving on the Monterey Museum of Art board. Tom’s young children were especially excited to see their daddy get involved at the place they love to visit! Stepping into his board role, Tom has been especially impressed by the professionalism and compassion from staff and volunteers.
Stewart Fuller: Recently retired CEO, Monterey Credit Union. This is Stewart’s second term on our board. That’s not unusual as many members have served multiple terms. But, in Stewart’s case, two decades have passed between his terms! This time around, he’s been continually amazed at how the SPCA has grown since his early days.
Kristen Huston: Former advertising and marketing executive, Saatchi and Saatchi; currently on the Board of Trustees for the Monterey Museum of Art; former board member, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Kristen, like other board members, is especially drawn to our open admission philosophy and our work to ensure that animals are cared for regardless of species, age, health or condition.
Courtney Jones: Realtor, Carmel Realty. SPCA ties run deep in Courtney’s family. Her dad served on the board in the 1980s and her mom is an active volunteer with the SPCA Benefit Shop in Carmel.
Diane Mall: Retired; active on Monterey Symphony board and formerly active with PacRep Board, Chapman University Athletic Foundation and CSUMB.
Paul Quiring: Retired CEO of a commercial construction company, Quiring General; Carmel Bach Festival board. While relatively new to SPCA Monterey County, Paul is quite familiar with our field; his construction firm built state of the art animal shelter facilities in the Fresno area.
Carmie Saldana: Former Wells Fargo executive; executive coaching consulting firm owner. Carmie is no stranger to the animal welfare field, having previously served on the Pasadena Humane Society board. After moving here and learning about all that our local SPCA offers, she couldn’t wait to be involved.
Laura Zehm: Retired CFO, Montage Health & CEO, Aspire; active with the Holding on to Hope Family Justice Center and formerly active with Monterey Jazz Festival and Sunset Cultural Center. Laura was a natural for our board’s Finance and Investment committees given her longtime, critical role with our county’s largest non-profit. She’s enjoying tapping into her financial expertise while guiding our broader initiatives. Laura was impressed with what she knew about the SPCA prior to joining our board, but was delighted to learn about all the services we provide.
Honorary Council
