AFTER HOURS RESCUE

Has the skunk bitten any person or pet? If so, please call Hitchcock Road Animal Services immediately at 831-769-8850.

The SPCA Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center is open 8 am to 5 pm in the Fall and Winter (from September 1 through March 31) and from 7 am to 7 pm in the Spring and Summer (from April 1 to August 31).

If the skunk is unable to move to get away, use a towel or other covering to safely pick up the skunk. Do not make contact with the skunk with your bare hands.  Place the skunk in a safe box where they can breathe but cannot escape and put them in a warm, dark, safe, and quiet location for the night such as a garage. Please call us in the morning at 831-264-5427. Spraying is their defense mechanism, so you may want to drape the box with a tarp to help contain the spray.Â
