On December 21, 2025, the SPCA Monterey County Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center rescued a severely injured bald eagle. Today, after over 25 weeks in care, he is once again flying free over our golden hills.
When the bald eagle arrived at the SPCA Wildlife Rescue Center, his prognosis was extremely guarded. He suffered from a broken coracoid, a bone essential for flight, and showed signs of electrocution. Our skilled wildlife rescue team immediately began the intensive work of mending this majestic bird. Through many weeks of dedicated care, lifesaving medication, and specialized physical therapy, he slowly regained the strength and precision needed to survive in the wild.
Today, we released him back into the wild. After a brief pause, he caught the wind and soared out over the hills, reclaiming the sky.
Support from compassionate donors like you makes our work possible. The SPCA is not a chapter and does not have a parent organization, so we rely on our community to help animals like this bald eagle. Thank you for giving this eagle the chance to recover and fly free again.
Watch his first flight back into freedom!
