Our incredibly fun One Day Animal Camps are offered during the school year, during most major breaks and holidays. Each camp is centered around a wide variety of interesting and fun topics, from dog care to helping wildlife! Campers will learn through hands on activities, silly games, as well as one on one time with adoptable pets!

Learn all about the many amazing ways the SPCA helps all animals in need, visit our clinic, learn about our Animal Cops, and more!

Adopt your very own “pet” and learn all about how to be the very best pet parent you can be. **Campers adopt stuffie pets, not actual animals
December 28 – Barnyard Bonanza
The SPCA doesn’t just care for dogs and cats – learn about the many large and small barnyard animals we care for
January 2 – Dog Days
Discover the silly, fun world of dogs! Special focus is placed on dog communication and safety
January 3 – Curious Cats
Explore the interesting, mysterious world of cats. Debunk common myths and learn to understand our feline friends
January 4 – Wildlife Wonders
Wild animals need help, too! Learn how the SPCA cares for injured wildlife, and how you can live in harmony with them at home

Fee: $55 per day (Adoption camp $85)
Ages: Ages 8-12
Hours: All camps are held from 9am to 3pm
Snacks are provided, please bring a lunch
All camp days include time in the shelter visiting adoptable dogs, cats, and small pets.

The SPCA’s week-long summer day camp offers children a unique mix of fun, exciting, and educational hands-on experiences. Animal Camp builds self-esteem and nurtures compassion.  Campers develop an understanding of the shelter environment and a respect for all animals.  Campers learn about animal-related jobs from professional guest speakers including SPCA Humane Investigators, Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation technicians, and animal care staff, to name a few!

Program activities include lessons in animal safety and handling, guided nature hikes on the SPCA grounds, fun creative activities, making enrichments for our pets, and many visits with adoptable animals in the shelter and barn.

What is The SPCA for Monterey County? What do they do? Do they only have dogs and cats? Is it true they have their own Animal Cops? All of these questions (and many, many more) will be answered during this awesomely fun camp! Campers will learn all about what makes The SPCA for Monterey County tick. Campers will get to know adorable adoptable animals, visit the Barn, and hear all about animal-related jobs from professional guest speakers.

SPCA Horse Camp with Hope Horses and Kids at SPCA Stables at Indian SpringsHorse camp 2015

Level 1 – Campers will learn all about horses through respect, love, compassion, and fun! Offered by the popular and respected nonprofit equine learning program Hope Horses and Kids at SPCA Stables at Indian Springs, this summer camp is for young horse lovers ages 8 to 12. Campers will learn proper horse care, practice vaulting, enjoy art projects, spend one-on-one time with rescued horses, showcase their new skills with a horse show for their families on Friday, understand how they can help horses in need in our community, and so much more.

Level 1:  See you next summer! 

Level 2 – Campers will continue to build upon the knowledge and skills gained in Level 1, with special emphasis on riding.  Level 1 is required for all campers, regardless of skill level or experience.

Fee: $350 per week
Ages: Open to ages 8 – 12
Hours: All camps are held from 10am to 3pm
Snacks are provided, please bring a lunch.
Camps are limited to just 10 campers each week.
Horse Camp is NOT held at SPCA campus on Hwy 68.
SPCA Stables are located at Indian Springs, 22400 Indian Springs Road, Salinas.
